When Arjuna was not ready to fight against his own
cousins in Kurukshetra, went to his teacher, Krishna, asked him for a solution.
Krishna, being the Guru of Arjuna advised him to take the path of Dharma and
fight against Kauravas. Arjuna did so and changed the course of our history.
This anecdote says it all. Teachers are the true
‘Margdarshak’ (one who shows the right path) in your life. The Upanishads
meaning (upa-near, ni-down, sad-sit), ‘sitting near down’, referring to the
student sitting down near the teacher while receiving rhetoric knowledge.
‘‘Guru Brahma Guru
Vishnu Guru Devo Maheshwara
Guru Sakshath
Parambrahma Tasmai Shri Gurave Namaha’’
This widely quoted Sanskrit ‘sloka’ means: The
teacher is the creator Brahma; he is also the preserver Vishnu; he is also the
destroyer Siva and he is the source of the absolute. Thus I offer all my
efforts to that great teacher.
It is said that other than parents one can be the
most trust worthy in your life is the teachers. This fact was true even one
thousand years ago and it is true even today also. This is the most oldest and
most trust worthy form of relationship between two souls in our society. A
teacher can appear in your life in many ways. This noble relationship is not
confined only within the four walls of an education institute. As it is said
that charity begins at home thus the parents can be the most close and most
friendly teachers in someone’s life. On a sports field a coach or in the
cultural meadow a singer or even an instrument player can be considered as a
teacher.
At the time of independence the role of a teacher
was so valuable that many young guns ended their valuable life for the sake of
our country’s independence. Gandhiji was the teacher for Jawaharlal Nehru and
Subhas Chandra Bose. Masterda Surya Sen inspired many by his bravado.
To give a tribute to this relationship India
celebrates Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan's birthday on September 5 as the
Teachers’ Day since 1962. Dr. Radhakrishnan was India’s one of the most
influential scholars of that time. He was the first Vice President of India and
the second President of India.
The Teachers’ Day is celebrated in all schools,
colleges and universities across India. Cultural programmes and exchange of
flowers and sweets between teachers and students can be seen everywhere. This
never ending love between these two individuals made us not only proud but also
added a new meaning into our life. They build our career when it is needed
most; they assist us during our hard times and they also scold us to bring us
to the right track of life. It is better to say that a teacher stays for a
student in every bit of their life.
www.drapeethnic.com knows the value of a teacher or
a guardian in life whether it is in education or in business teachers are the
main source of inspiration. This article is dedicated to all the teachers, who
are selflessly working day and night to elicit humanity from a student. Happy
Teachers’ Day.
